a. Police Commissioner or deputy commissioners in civilian clothes
b. Supervisory officer in uniform
c. United States flag as it passes
d. Desk when entering command.
UMOS do not salute the following…
members outside the department. example- we do not salute the mayor.
When do salute is not require?
Salute is not required at large assemblages except when addressed by or addressing supervisory officer. Salute not required if it interferes with police duty.
When do you remove hat and stand at attention?
Remove hat and stand at attention in office of Police Commissioner, deputy commissioner or member above rank of lieutenant.
Where do u.s flag is at half staff when Lieutenant, sergeant, police officer died?
On Department building where assigned on day of funeral
Where do u.s flag is at half staff when a captain dies
On Department building where assigned from time of death to sunset, day of funeral
Where do u.s flag is at half staff when Deputy inspectors or inspectors died
On Department buildings within his/her command from time of death to sunset, day of funeral; flag at Police Headquarters will fly at half-mast on day of funeral.
Other members, Police Commissioner or a deputy commissioner
As directed by the Police Commissioner or Chief of Department.

When member above rank of captain enters room unless otherwise directed.
Procedure for wear band, regardless of rank of the deceases active member of the service-line of duty death
Members of his or her command- from the time of death until 24 hrs on the 10th day after his or her death
Other members - from the time of death until 24 hrs on the day of the funeral

Members of his or her command - from 0001 hrs until 24 hrs on the day of the funeral
Other members - while attending funeral services

Mandatory for all MOS attending the headquaters ceremony in uniform.
Optional for all UMOS between 0001 hrs and 2400 hrs
Procedure for wear band - At national peace officer’s memorial day
Optional for all UMOS between 0001 hrs and 2400 hrs on may 15th annually.
