Exact Area of Rhombus using vectors?

A

Use magnitude of vectors to work out cross sections of the rhombus. Multiplying these by half will produce the height and base of a congruent triangle. Substituting this into the area of a triangle formula and multiplying by 4 will give the area of the rhombus

Sn2 = (a+ (n-1)d) + (a + (n-2)d) + …. + (a + 2d) + (a+d) + (a)

2Sn = Sn1 + Sn2
2Sn= (2a + (n-1)d) + (2a + (n-1)d) + (2a + (n-1)d)
2Sn = n(2a + (n-1)d)
Sn = 1/2n (2a + (n-1)d)
