- Fractured party due to Brexit and the aftermath of the 2016 EU referendum, May was criticised for her appearance and seen as indecisive

- Policies : renationalise the railways and big monopolies, abolish Uni tuition fees, end austerity, crackdown on tax evasion, softer Brexit deal and lower the voting age to 16
- Faced a lot of opposition within his own party + during the campaign he dressed more professionally than usual + defeated a leadership challenge
