- Aftershocks of 5.9 and 5.5 magnitude were felt in the following days

A
- Following aid from UN peacekeepers from Nepal, cholera broke out in Haiti
- 10,000 people died
- this caused Haiti’s government to not be as trusting with outside aid, even though they needed it

- The UN and the Red Cross provided food, water, and medical aid
- USA sent 10,000 troops to aid with search and rescue
- Over 800,000 people were placed in temporary shelters but they were in poor condition
