ELIAS: We left the checkout line and we… we found him… walking-wandering aimlessly in the vegetable aisle. No cookies. He was… he was so…
He was so… lost. We asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for the canola oil? He didn’t have the cookies, and… we asked where they were…
ELIAS: He couldn’t remember… he couldn’t remember where to find them. They were literally all he ate and he-he couldn’t…remember
And that was just the start. We noticed little things after that. His hitting was way off at baseball practices…we wrote the shopping list once and… his handwriting… we could barely read it.
OPHELIA: Oh my god. You knew. You - you knew.
Well, yes, we-
OPHELIA: How… how could you? Wh-why didn’t one of you say anything? Anything?! We could’ve done something sooner!
We… were going to. But then… we just… it was too late
ELIAS: We know. We failed him.
I can…barely…live with myself
ELIAS: Don’t you think I know that?
If we had just… just sad something. Right after that shopping trip
ELIAS: Well what are we supposed to do now huh? The truth’s out.
Listen to Ophi, I guess.
ELIAS: Right. The cookies. God, he loved those things. Hell, we should’ve put a box of ‘em in his casket.
Okay…a little dark… but I guess there’s some truth to that.
OPHELIA: Y-yeah… I-I guess… y-you’re right. I…. he-
Maybe that was too far, Elias
ELIAS: Oh come on, after the bomb we just dropped?
Is everything okay Ophelia?
OPHELIA: We had brought some to the hospital and… and… and they were almost gone… and he had one… one! … and then… and then I ate the rest! And then he asked if there were anymore.. and I said no… and he said it was fine… but I could see…
See what, Ophelia?
OPHELIA: He knew he wasn’t gonna eat one ever again! They were his favorite thing in the whole world.
Oh… you know we weren’t being serious before.
OPHELIA: Yes you were. Don’t try to protect me!
I’m not. I’m telling the truth. It’s about time.
ELIAS: Well, he really did-
Seriously? I’m sure Alphie wasn’t that upset over it
OPHELIA: But… what if he hated me for it?
Ophelia, there wasn’t an ounce of hate in his body. He… he didn’t hate anyone
