Q

Beach profile analysis - limitations and ways around those

A

Neg:
must be done in groups to assure its done in time - low tide is best to do it
ranging poles might not be/stay straight - have group member hold them - diff if doing by themselves
Types of clinometer may vary - can skew results - so research a good app for it in advanced

Q

pebble/sediment analysis - limitations and ways around those

A

pos:
quick type of data collection

Neg: can be biased when choosing pebbles/rocks - so take consideration on what type of sample method to use
The use of a visual chart such as powers scale may be subjective - ruins data
not all beaches have rocks and pebbles

Q

slope analysis - limitations and ways around those

A

pos:
data can be plotted on a graph to show overall change for each section - aids comprehension
Can use a OS map of area to cal/check gradient of slope - make data more accurate and to scale

neg:
have to be very precise with the ranging poles - data become incorrect very quickly if isn’t done correctly
Varying tidal conditions can affect access and safety of data collection

Q

stream analysis - limitations and ways around those

A

Neg:
safety is at risk as in water with likely an uneven bottom
Data collection has to be at a specific location of stream as its likely diff every few meters - forces you to do stratified sampling
data is diff to collect as lots of vegetation - cant get data such as stream width - skews data

Q

vegetation analysis - limitations and ways around those

A

pos:
easy to gather data as simple process - quick data collection
can be done anywhere with vegetation - larger variety of locations and vegetation types in dif areas

neg:
could be subjected to bias as not counted properly - especially if lots of species in same area
if area has many diff species it could be time consuming to count it correctly
