2- Nervous, Muscle, and Epithelial Cells Flashcards
Nervous cell that acts like a building block for the nervous system, generates and conducts electrochemical nerve impulses and senses stimuli
Neurons
Nervous system cell that provides support, insulation, and protection to connect neurons to blood cells
Glial Cells
Muscle tissue cell that connects the bones in the skeleton that pulls on bones and skin when you move
Skeletal Cell
Muscle tissue cell that protects the heart, regulates contractions and propels blood through the circulatory system
Cardiac cell
Involuntary muscle tissue cell that lines the wall of most blood vessels
Smooth cells
Proper epithelium cell thats flat, fast, and absorption making thin membranes
Squamous cells
Proper Epithelium cells that are cube, absorb nutrients, and produce secretion (saliva, sweat, etc)
cuboid cells
Proper epithelium cells that are tall and thick, like cuboidal but stretched
Columnar Cells
One layer of cells
Simple Epithelium
multiple layers of cells stacked like bricks
Stratified
One layer of different sized cells
Pseudo Stratified
Glandular epithelium glands that secrete hormones right into your bloodstream or nearby cells
Endocrine glands
Glandular epithelium glands that secrete juices into tubes that lead to outside of your body
Exocrine glands
