2. Mechanics Flashcards
1
Q
Newton’s Laws
A
1st: Object will stay stationary or constant velocity, providing no R force acting on it
2nd: F=ma; a∝F
3rd: When body A exerts a force on body B exerts an equal and opposite force on Body A
1
Q
Conditions for Newton’s 3rd Law
A
Forces;
- are same magnitude
- act in opposite direction
- are of same kind
- act on different bodies
- arise in pairs
2
Q
Linking Newton’s first/second law
A
- Body A exerts a force on *body B
- Due to 3rd law, Body B exerts an equal/opposite force on Body A
- Body A has resultant force acting on it
- Due to first law, this causes Body A to accelerate
