2 - LM2500 GTE Base and Enclosure Assembly Flashcards
LM2500 Module/Base Enclosure Assembly
Provides a controlled operating environment for the GTM
Also provides thermal and acoustic protection
Thermal and acoustic protection
Provided by:
3/8” thick steel outer walls
4” of fiberglass insulation
Perforated metal wall; 2000 F for 15 min
Fire Detection within the module
3 UV flame detectors
Flame detector signal conditioner
2 temperature switches
Fire Extinguishing methods
Two 95-lb Halon bottles
Two CO2 actuation bottles-30sec time delay
Directional control valve
Two discharge nozzles in the GTM
Externally-mounted cooling fan
Forces air down through the vent damper, around the engine, and out through the exhaust eductor
Cooling fan starts automatically after engine start and secures 10 min after engine shutdown
Vent Damper
Pneumatically opened via a solenoid during start sequence
Upon loss of Low Pressure control air, the damper fails in its open position
Can be cycled manually in an emergency
Enclosure heater
Keeps GTM warm enough to prevent waxing of the fuel and ensures proper fuel viscosity
Heater elements turns on at 60F-70F; turns off at 85F-95F
Fan energizes between 120F-130F; de-energizes at 145F
Ice Detector
Located inside the inlet plenum
Alarms sound when Relative Humidity increases to 70% or more, or temp. decreases to 41F or less
