URBANISATION
What were the consequences of Industrialisation
People now moved to the cities to find work after they lost their farming jobs to machinery, Housing was built quickly, cheaply and poorly. The factory system now offered jobs in mills and factories. Around 50% of the population was employed this way by 1850. People moved in mass into cities which weren’t built to hold so many people and there were food shortages due to infrastructure not being in place. Demand for more raw materials led to more slavery and more jobs depending on the trade, People shared ideas as now grouped together closely and became political and wanted a voice in parliament.
