2. Fundamentals of Arithmetic Flashcards
Fundamentals of Arithmetic
Types of numbers, Operations of arithmetic, Properties of arithmetic, Place value, Pecentages, Ratios and proportions, Number properties, Order of operations, and measurement.
Types of numbers
Distinct categories of numbers based on their properties and characteristics, including natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrationsl numbers, and real numbers.
Natural numbers
Positive intergers.
Whole numbers
Positive integers, including zero.
Integers
Positive and negative numbers that are not a fraction: whole numbers.
Rational numbers
Numbers that can be expressed as a fraction of two integers, where the denominator isn’t zero, and the decimal expansion is terminating or repeating.
Irrational numbers
Numbers that cannot be expressed as a fraction of two intergers, and the decimal expansion is non terminating and non repeating.
Real numberss
A combination of rational and irrational numbers.
Percentage
A ratio or fraction that represents a part of a wole, where the whole is scaled to 100.
Ratios and proportions
Concepts used to compare quantities and their relationships.
Ratio
An ordered pair of numbers which compares two quantities by division.
Proportion
An equation that sets two ratios equal to eachother.
