2 component regulatory systems and phosphorelay systems Flashcards
OmpF
porin that has large pores allowing solutes to diffuse across the OM more rapidly. it is used when the Aw is high like in a pond or stream
OmpC
a porin that has small pores and is used when Aw is lower. exclude large toxic molecules like bile salts
EnvZ
PM protein, a sensore kinase. when Aw decrease it autophosphorylates and then phosphorylates OmpR
OmpR
a cytoplasmic portein. response regulator. when phosphorylate, OmpR activates transcription of ompC and represses transcription of omfF
what activates micF
OmpR-P also activates expression of micF
fn of micF
micF RNA is not translated, it acts as antisense RNA. anitisense RNA binds to 5’ end of exisitng ompF mRNA by complementary base pairing preventing translation by preventing 30S ribosomal subunit from binding to RBS, thus inhibits expression of ompF
