Phagocytosis
2
Q
What are specific defence mechanisms?
A
Cell mediated respond (t lymphocytes)
Humoral response (b lymphocytes)
3
Q
What is phagocytosis?
A
- pathogen enters the body, the phagocyte detects the chemicals and moves towards it
- phagocyte attaches the pathogen to it membrane on its receptors
- phagocyte engulfs pathogen surrounding it with its inner membrane forming a phagosome
- lysosome migrate towards bacterium and release enzymes to digest the bacteria
- products are digested and formed is a phagolysosome
