Causation
a causal link between the claimed injury and the conduct of the defendant
Redressability
Focuses on the relationship between the injury and relief sought.
Causation must be:
“Fairly traceable” to the defendants conduct.
Like the proximate cause in torts. The closer the link between the defendant’s conduct and the injury, the more likely a ct will find this element satisfied.
Redressability - Plaintiff must show:
that a favorable court decision is likely to redress the harm.
Redressability - The relief requested must be:
Designed to alleviate the injury caused by the defendant’s conduct.
Question for Resdressability:
Whether the relief sought from the court will alleviated otherwise redress the injury.
