HIA MODEL
Looks at the skills and abilities of the user.

EADL’s (Electronic Aids to Daily Living)
Control electronic devices in a person’s environment.
Ex: TV, phones
AAC (Augmentative and Alternate Communications)
Allows for communication by supplementing or replacing the voice/ gestures.
Ex: text to speech.
GENERAL COMPUTER ACCESS
Allows clients to perform tasks for which they have no alternative method.

TYPES OF SWITCHES (6)
- Mechanical switch: activated by force.
- Electromagnetic switch: activated via radio waves.
- Electric control switch: activated by signals from the body.
- Proximity switch: activated by movement in the general area.
- Pneumatic switch: activated by air flow.
- Phonation switch: activated by speech.
SWITCH ACTIVATION (2)
- Momentary switch: Activates a device if there is contact.
- Latching switch: turns device on, and remains on until switched off.
