Alert levels of ASHTAM

A
  • Green Alert
    Normal, non-eruptive state, or;
    After high alert level activity is considered to have ceased
  • Yellow Alert
    Signs of elevated unrest above known background levels; or
    After a change from higher level of alert, activity has decreased significantly but is monitored for possible increase
  • Orange Alert
    Heightened unrest with increased likelihood of eruption, or;
    Eruption is underway with no or minor ash emission
  • Red Alert
    Eruption is forecast to be imminent with significant emission of ash into the atmosphere to be likely, or;
    Eruption underway with significant emission of ash into the atmosphere
