Like んです, used when you explain a fact or a reason. Often used in meetings, business, and other such settings.
私たちは国籍だけでのその人の性格を判断してしまう嫌いがある。
We tend to judge a person’s character based solely on their nationality.
V る/ V ない + きらいがある
Used when you want to say “there is ~, a tendency or disposition that is not good.”
国を離れて 10年経つが、1日たりとも故郷を忘れたことはない。
It’s been 10 years since I left my country, but I’ve never forgotten my hometown for even a day.
こきょう
1 + 助数詞 + たりとも + …ない
Used when you want to say, “even if that amount is small, I will absolutely not X.”
景気悪化に伴い、工場は閉鎖を余儀なくされた。
As the economy worsened, the factory was forced to close.
