group of words that expresses a complete idea. Contains a subject and a predicate.
Sentence
Group of words consisting of a subject and a finite verb. Ex: I went to school early.
Clause
Used as a unit within a sentence. Ex: The biggest pearl is <found in the Philippines.
Phrase
Conveys a complete thought. Independent Clause. Ex: I submitted all of my school requirements on time
main clause
Complements the Main Clause. Dependent clause. Ex: because I had managed my time wisely.
subordinate clause
A word ending with “-ing”, made from a verb and used as a noun. Ex: I love cooking
gerund
composed of the preposition “to” and any base form of the verb Ex: to bake
infinitive
resemblance of 1 object to another in certain aspects Ex: kitten:cat::puppy:dog
anology
perceiving, examining, and interpreting meaning from visual images.
viewing
anything deliberately used to increase the learner’s knowledge and experience.

Passive Voice
basic versions of each main verb tense. Ex: My son lives in London.
Simple tenses
discusses ongoing action/s Ex: I am currently sweeping the floor.
progressive tenses
discussed future actions that will be completed. Ex: She will have done it by this evening.
perfect tenses
discussed future actions that will be completed. Ex: She will have been shopping for the whole day.
perfect progressive tenses
Phrase proceeded by any preposition Ex: above the sea level
prepositional phrase
Headed by a noun that includes modifiers Ex: Modular Distance Learning, Department of Education
noun phrase
verbal phrase that ends with a gerund. Ex: Jogging an hour every morning energizes my senses.
Gerund Phrase
verbal phrase that starts with a participle, functions as an adjective. Ex: Listening to BlackPink hits, Inspired by Greta Thunberg
Participial phrase
Verbal Phrase that starts with an Infinitive. ex: To submit all of your Module 6 answers, take photos of them and send them via Messenger.
