What happens from the woman’s 1st appearance through to Charley’s arrival?

- Willy complains that he gets so lonely when out on business
Willy daydreams to a hotel room with his mistress who is telling him why she ‘chose him’, he is funny. She says that she will link him to the buyers next time they see each other - Present; Linda is mending stockings which enrages Willy
- Bernard returns to the house asking if Biff wants to revise; Willy commands him to give the answers to which he refuses. Bernard also insists that the football be returned. Linda comments that Biff is ‘too rough’ with the girls
- Willy becomes enraged again by the unglamorous truth of Biff’s behavior, Linda leaves the room almost in tears
- Willy laments that he should have gone to Alaska with his brother who is now rich
- Charley comes to check that all is okay as he heard shouts.
- They play cards and Charley offers Willy a job which he finds insulting
- Charley comments on the living room ceiling. Willy is erratic insisting that Charley’s lack of craftsmanship proves his lack of masculinity
