1B-Mathematics, Measurement & Data Manipulation Flashcards
SI Units
measurement in science- Systeme international d’unites that include 7 base units
Precision
how close several measured values are to each other, indicator to data scatter
Accuracy
how close the measured values are to the true or actual value
Significant Figures
critical to accurate measurement, tell readers how well to measure raw data
Scientific Notation
is a short way to express large numbers 5.01x10^13 = 50,100,000,000,000. 5.01 = coefficient 10 = base 13 = exponent(+move to rt, -move to left)
Line graphs
compare data, shows continuous change, showing effects over time
Bar graphs
represent discrete blocks of data that are not continuous, shows rank order of trends
Pie graphs
designed to show the component parts of a whole/persentages
Extrapolation & Interpolation
estimated values on the graph within or beyond what was collected
Percent error formula
(Theoretical value-Experimental value/Theoretical value)x100
