Q

Definition of model and theory?

A

Model- representation of concept, process/behavior. Made to make something easier to understand. Eg- multi-store model

Theory- proposition/set of principles used to explain something/ make prediction about relationship between concepts
eg. behavourism

Q

What is in a scientific method? (4 mains)

A
  1. Aim - statment outlining purpose
  2. Hypothesis - testable prediction about the outcome of investigation
  3. Variable - condition of an experiment that can be measure/manipulated
  4. Population - group of people who are the focus of the research from which a sample is drawn from

Q

Types of Variables? (5)

A
  1. INDEPENDANT- changed, selected or controlled by the researcher (will impact dv) ______
  2. DEPENDANT - measure I
  3. CONTROLLED - held constant to ensure manipulation of IV effects DV
  4. EXTRANEOUS - not IV but may effect results. try to eliminate before research
  5. CONFOUNDING - could have been an extraneous variable not controlled or something that couldn’t be controlled
