How did the industrial era create social change in the US before world War I?
The US became more of an Urban Nation. There were a lot more immigrants that came to urban areas and enlarged them.
How did world War I accelerate social change after it?
People started off with a lot of enthusiasm going into war, but ended up coming home with a lot of scars, Shell shock, permanent injuries, and the effects of poisonous gas. They lost a lot of their enthusiasm after all the events.
What was a flapper? How did she symbolize the 1920s revolution in matters and morals and contribute to a more modern society?
A flapper was a term to describe a new type of young woman rebellious energetic fun-loving and bold. She symbolized the 1920s revolution because women started to become more prominent and wanted to speak up more often. Modern America is a lot more female dominant than it was before.
What is meant by the flapper image? Give examples of behaviors and actions that challenge traditional rules and expectations of women.
Women were expected to wear very long dresses, but they started wearing them shorter and shorter. The amount of fabric needed went from 19.5 yards to 7 yd. They also wear their hair shorter they were closer fitted hats they were makeup that was usually only for actresses and prostitutes. Women also started drinking and smoking.
What positive changes resulted when women started working in the workforce and what limitations did they face?
Positive, the amount of women working increased from 23% to 29%. Limitations, women were denied jobs as lawyers and doctors. Women were expected to quit their job if they got pregnant.
Despite the passage of the 19th amendment why was the minimal political impact of women giving the right to vote in the 1920s?
Women voted along the same lines as men did. Few women voted at all. Most said they lacked interest, and others thought women shouldn’t vote. Women having children made it hard for them to get to the pools. Women’s families discourage them from voting, and they were not comfortable with it.
What was the shepherd-towner act and why was it a game for women?
It was an act that called for the first major federal welfare measure concerned with women and children’s health women were being more seen and valued.

It said for the eagle Rights movement it helped to achieve equal rights for men and women.

They began working in high levels of government. Other women start to do the same.

Demographics are the statistics that describe a population such as data on race or income.

What resulted from the rural urban split in the US?
There was a big economic Gap. Market prices dropped for farmers and Rose for operation. Farmers reluctantly had to move to cities.
Why did the Great migration occur during world War 1 and what changes resulted from it after the war?
The Great migration occurred because jobs in the South paid horrible for African americans. They had more opportunities in the north. After world War I a lot more people tried to migrate to the us.
What is a barrio? why did they develop in the 1920s?
It was a spanish-speaking neighborhood. Los Angeles got a lot of Spanish people so they developed a spanish-speaking area.
