Duties and responsibilities of the Detachment Commander during MDMP

A
  1. 18A is overall responsible for planning and execution of the mission.
  2. He ensures that the SFOD-A’s mission and intent are nested two levels up.
  3. Often he is the senior representative of US interests in foreign countries and is an expert in all things related to UW and COIN.
  4. The commander provides clear guidance to subordinates for the direction of the planning process.
  5. The commander is the person welfare and mission of the SFOD-A, and therefore must be able to plan for and articulate the detachment’s concept, plan of execution, and any issues clearly and confidently to the next-higher command.

Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Detachment Commander during MDMP

A
  1. Second-in-charge and assumes command in the absence of the detachment command.
  2. The 180A ensures the planning products are integrated and completed to an acceptable standard.
  3. The 180A may also serve as the quality control focal point for all products–such as RFIs–leaving the SFOD-A.
  4. Conducts quality control function during IPRs and by spot-checking team member’s progress on planning tasks.
  5. May also be the SME on evasion and recovery and the integration and use of other ARSOF enablers (CA, MISO, SSE, dog teams)

Duties and responsibilities of the Operations Sergeant (18Z) during MDMP

A
  1. Senior enlisted member of the detachment. He is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the detachment.
  2. Advises the detachment commander on all operations and training matters.
  3. He provides leadership, tactical and technical guidance, and professional support to detachment members.
  4. With guidance from the commander, he assigns specific tasks, supervises the performance of detachment tasks, and prepares plans, orders, and reports.
  5. Prepares: the operations and training portions of area studies, briefbacks, OPLANs, CONOPs, OPORDs, and daily training schedules and maintains responsibility for short-term training.

Duties and responsibilities of the Intelligence Sergeant during MDMP

A
  1. Employs unconventional and conventional warfare tactics and techniques in intelligence collection and in processing counterintelligence.
  2. Responsible for force protection of the SFOD-A and its indigenous forces. Provides tactical and technical guidance to detachment leadership and to indigenous and allied personnel.
  3. Prepares intelligence annexes and appendices for operations and combat orders
