Abolitionist
A person who wanted to put an end to slavery.
Abolition
The action of ending a system of practice. Abolition is a movement to stop slavery

They signed contracts to work for people for a few years to get to America

A location where cash crops were grown and used a bunch of slave labor.

A bunch of laws that were written for owners to control their slaves

A network of abolitionists who secretly helped slaves escape to the north to Canada.

This act was a compromise for southerners interest and northerners free soldiers. Slaves that escaped would still be returned to their owners
