17 QQI Flashcards
QE activities can be classified:
Pre-QA activities (goal, measurement, and overall strategy)
In QA activites (covered in earlier lectures)
Post-QA activities (maybe parallel instead of “post-“)
Quality improvement was achieved through
Measurement
Analysis
Feedback
Organizational Support.
A manager can control:
- Resources.
- Time
- Product
- Risk
To control a project, a manager needs to keep track of:
- Effort.
- Time
- Size.
- Defects (and how do these impact quality)
Direct Quality measures
- MTTF (mean time to failure)
- discovered defects so far (estimates the total number of defects)
When do (direct) measures become available?
Later part of the SE process.
- fixing problems at late stages may not be cost effective.
Because the longer a defect stays in a system.
- the more harm it is likely to cause and the more difficult to fix.
Measures needs:
Earily quality indicators to provide early quality predictions.
Direct Measures
Measrement of results and defects.
Indirect Measures
Environmental
- Process
- People
- Product
Product Internal
Activitiy (Specifies QA activities and involves dynamic measurement)
When to stop testing/QA
When to release the product.
Decision Sequence
If quality measures directly releveant to customers are available, use those.
Use internal qualikty assessments.
Coverage based release criteria.
Completion of QA activites.
