Q

What are different characteristics of a distance/time graph? What do they tell you?

A

The gradient shows the speed
Flat line means object is stationary
Steeper gradient = faster
Curves = acceleration

Q

How do you find the speed of a distance/time graph
What is the formula

A

If graph curved, draw tangent and find gradient of tangent
Calculate average speed when object accelerating - divide total distance travelled by the time taken to travel that distance

Gradient = change in vertical / change in horizontal
