What is the perirhinal cortex involved with?
A
- Familiarity-based item recognition
- items that are familiar elicit higher activity
- during retrieval, activity is lower compared to novel items
- also learns associations about and between objects (their name, a particular feature)
- object perception (high end in the ventral stream)
- projects to anterior hippocampus
