1.6 circuit symbols and control stuff Flashcards
What 3 things affect a sensor
-Light
-Temperature
-Movement
What are sensors used for
to give an input to an electronic circuit
What does a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) do?
Change its resistance based on light levels
When resistance of an LDR goes up what happens to the light level?
Goes down
What does a thermistor do?
changes its resistance based on the temperature
When the temperature goes down, what happens to the resistance in a thermistor?
Goes down
What 2 things does control in a circuit take care of?
-The direction of current (Amps) flow
-Strength of signals/potential (volts)
What 2 things can a transistor do?
-Act as an electronic switch
-Can amplify current (Amps)
what does BCE stand for?
B= Base
C= Collector
E=Emitter
What is a resistor?
Component used to control/ limit current in a circuit
What is resistance measured in?
Ohms (Omega)
What is a switch?
Component used to turn things on and off
What is output in a circuit?
Outputs take electrical energy and convert to another type, eg. light, motion, heat, sound, force
What is a buzzer used for?
uses electrical energy to make a single tone
What is an LED (light emitting diode)?
LEDs take electrical energy and output light
What is the difference between parallel and series circuits?
in series means the resistors are one after another.
