What are the three different levels of Holy Orders in the Church? What are the powers of each?
- Bishop (fullness of priesthood, helps govern the church and head diocese)
- Priest (Assists bishop in heading church with an individual parish)
- Deacon (serves the Bishops and the Priest, can read and preach gospel)
Are ordained meant the only members of the church who are called to serve? Who else in the church is called to serve?
No all baptized members are called to serve
What are the two kinds of priesthood in the church? What separates them?
Secular priest- daily contact with people
Religious order- live out vows
Who is the minister of holy orders?
Validly ordained bishop
Upon ordination, of what assembly does the bishop become a member?
The college of bishops
What are the essential elements of an ordination?
laying on of hands on forehead and the prayer to the Holy Spirit.
Once someone is made a priest, can he ever be unmade a priest? Why or why not?
No being ordained as priest leaves an indelible mark on the soul.
With what words did Christ institute the sacrament of Holy Orders? What was he telling his Apostles to do?
“Do this is remembrance of me” he was telling the Apostles to continue to celebrate the Eucharist.
