What are the principles of employment law?

A

All workers are entitled to be free of discrimination in the workplace
Businesses must treat all job applicants fairly
All workers are entitled to minimum wage
All workers are protected from working too many hours each week
Any worker with a young family is entitled to time off work to look after their family
All workers have the right to work in a safe environment (The Health and Safety Act)
Businesses examine all work areas to ensure no member of staff comes to harm
Business must provide staff with sufficient warning and pay them compensation if reducing staff levels

What are the principles of consumer law?

A

Customer = anyone who buys the product
Consumer = people who use the products
Goods and services must be correctly packages and clearly labelled with correct measurements so customers are not deceived by any description
Customers do not have a right to refund if the goods or services are described correctly but a customer changes their mind after they have made the purchase
The consumer Rights Act states the right to a refund if gods or services are not:
Of satisfactory quality
Fit for purpose
