What happens if Fire System MCB trips?
Automatic fire integrity will be lost and yellow light extinguish. Engine on affected car will shut down.
If Fire System MCB will not reset what must be done?
Affected engine must be isolated.
Can the train continue in service, if so what would happen if the affected engine caught fire?
Yes train can continue. If affected engine caught fire then only the manual extinguisher would work.
What are the indications if the TCA c\b trips?
TCA lost on affected vehicle Body side indicator illuminated. Gearbox ‘train’ and ‘unit’ light illuminate TCA operative when lit lamp extinguish TCA fault lamp illuminate
When does the Earth C/B often trip?
When coupling
How many times should reset be attempted on earth c/b?
Once
What must be done if Earth c/b trips again?
Defect book completed. Train can continue in service if no other faults.
What are the effects of the Local control c/b tripping?
TCA fault light illuminates
Engine shut down on affected vehicle
Engine stop light will not illuminate
Fire protection will be lost on affected vehicle
The starter motor will not function and allow engine to be restarted
What needs to be done if Local Control c/b cannot be reset?
Isolate affected engine
Proceed as if TCA fault was present due to illuminated body side indicator.
Contact signaller and maintenance control.
Apply DOTE standard
What happens if Door Control c/b trips on vehicle where DKS is on?
Door close buttons will not work
If Door Control c/b will not reset what needs to be done?
DKS needs to be switched off, control transferred to DKS in other vehicle.
If door system operates correctly from new location what may happen?
Train may continue normally until the next point that maintenance can be provided.
If Brake c/b trips what are the signs?
Brakes apply on full formation
Engines revert to idle
Bodyside indicator illuminates on affected vehicle.
If Brake c/b will not reset what must be done?
Move to other driving cab and raise EBS in order to release brakes.
Obtain assistance from leading end and operate EBS in leading end of assisting vehicle
What happens when the TPWS c/b trips?
Emergency brake application
If TPWS c/b will not reset what must be done?
TPWS flag isolation switch to be operated to regain brake control. This will also isolate AWS warning system.
What are the effects of a tripped Train Control c/b in leading cab?
Brake application
Engine remains running
No buzzer
No train or unit fault lights
If train control trips in the other cab what are the effects?
Same as in the leading cab with the exception of train and unit lights being illuminated.
What are the options if the Train Control c/b will not reset?
Isolate engine on affected car and try to reset.
Move to alternative driving cab and operate EBS.
Obtain assistance from leading end and operate EBS in leading end of assisting unit
If an engine is isolated on an end cab due to a Train control c/b not resetting what needs to be operated.
Remote supply changeover switch will need to be operated on that end to ensure end lighting is functional.
Why would the Remote Supply c/b trip?
If the main start battery control fuse on the opposite end of the unit ruptures.
What happens if the fuse ruptures?
Emergency brake application
Engine on affected end will shut down
All electrical supply lost from start battery
What needs to happen if remote supply will not reset?
Unit is a failure and assistance will be required.
