What was Churchill’s position when he came back to government?
-the First lord of the Admiralty
What happened during the Norway campaign?
-Chamberlin and the British placed mines in Norwegian waters as a way to prevent the Nazis from getting more resources
-This however failed as they Nazis came too quickly and on the 9th of June 1940 Norway fell to the Nazis
Why did the Norway campaign fail?
-Poor management from Churchill who didn’t send enough men to stop the Nazis (scared due to Gallipoli)
-Chamberlain was publicly blamed and resigned as PM in May due to ill health
-Even still the British were able to sink 12 Nazil ships
Why did Lord Halifax not get the job as PM?
-He was uninterested in the job as he did not believe the British could beat the Nazis
-This therefore left the job to Churchill
