15: DELIVER: Lean synchroization Flashcards
whats lean synchronization
Is to deliver the exactly what the customer wants (in-time, exact quantities) at the lowest possible cost rate. Official definition ‘’Lean synchronization aims to meet demand instantaneously, with perfect quality and no waste’’
difference between traditional and JIT
Traditional: push system, high capacity utilization
JIT: pull system, np inventory, low capacity utilization
the lean philosophy
eliminate waste, continuous improvement, involve everyone
‘involvement of everyone’ principle
to eliminate all forms of waste, aka any activity that does not add value. Lean synchronization can also be called the respect-for-humans system since it encourages involving all employees of the operation and empowering them. Their basic principles are; discipline, flexibility, equality, autonomy, development of personnel, quality of working environment and creativity. Furthermore, It also consists of a variety of tools and techniques for improving the operation’s performance continuously. In short; waste reduction, involving everyone and continuous improvement.
continuous improvement Japanese name
kaizen
7 types of waste (MOOD WIT)
motion over-production over-processing defectives waiting time inventory transport
value stream mapping
end-to-end system mapping, distinguishes value-adding and non-value-adding activities. It works on the big picture rather than just optimizing individual processes
River and rocks analogy
Reduce inventory of operation to see the problems
JIT
producing items only when they are needed. The JIT or Lean approach deliveries are only made on request. It encourages team based problem solving, job enrichment, job rotation and multi skilling.
