What are the four BGP Packet Types?
A
There are four BGP message types used for communication: OPEN, KEEPALIVE, UPDATE, and NOTIFICATION messages.
- OPEN messages are used to open a BGP communication session between peers.
- KEEPALIVE messages are used to ensure that BGP neighbors are still alive.
- UPDATE messages are used to advertise, update, or withdraw routes.
- NOTIFICATION messages are used to indicate an error condition to a BGP neighbor.
