What is food efficacy?
Food efficacy refers to the ability of a product to produce a beneficial effect, the ability to produce a desired or intended result.
What is a fad diet?
A fad diet is a weight reduction diet that either eliminates one or more of the essential food groups, or recommends the consumption of one type of food.
This can be detrimental to health as the health messages are often in direct contract to that of health professionals and the information is often based on unverified sources.

A food fad is a food ingredient that people are interested on for a short period of time, such as chia, kale or quinoa.
What is a restrictive diet?
A restrictive diet is based on ‘low carbs’, they restrict or totally eliminate the consumption of carbohydrate foods and should be considered carefully, particularly as a long term diet.

MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE PACKAGING (MAP)
A system of packaging that changes or modified the atmosphere on the gas inside the package in order to extend the shelf life of the contents.
ASEPTIC PACKAGING
A process whereby the food product and the package are sterilised separately and brought together in a sterile environment.

What is the effect of food wastage on the environment?
The food waste that is created as an end result of the manufacturing process often ends up in landfill. when foods rot with other organics in landfill it gives off the greenhouse gas methane, which is 25 more times more potent then the carbon pollution that comes out of a cars exhaust.
What are the reasons why food is wasted?
