1.5 Flashcards
Independent Variable
The variable that is changed by the one doing the experiment.
Dependent Variable
The variable that can be changed by the independent variable.
Control group
The group where nothing changes so they can compare the results to something.
Experimental group
The group the thing is tested on.
Which axis would the independent and dependent variables go on?
x; y
What is an example of an independent variable and dependent variable?
how much plant food; growth
What is an example of control and experimental groups?
The control group gets a placebo while the experimental gets the actual medicine.
What is the difference between a control and experimental group?
A control group doesn’t change while an experimental group does.
What is the difference between an independent and dependent variable?
An independent variable is changed and a dependent variable changes as a result of the independent variable.
The more plant food that is given to the plants the quicker they will grow.
Independent: amount of plant food; Dependent: plant growth; Control group: no food; Experimental group: plant food
Sketch a graph with error bars showing no significant difference.
