A
Carries impulses to body muscles under conscious control

A
carries impulses to glands, smooth muscles and cardiac muscle and is involuntary (subconscious)

Why are reflex actions important?
A
Non-voluntary - carry out more complex responses quickly
Protect body from harm and do not have to be learnt
Fast as neurone pathway is short with few synapses
