What is internal recruitment?
This is where candidates are recruited from within a business.
What are some advantages of internal recruitment?
- Cheap and Quick
- Motivate staff as they see the chance of promotion
- Already familiar to the business
What are some Disadvantages of internal recruitment?
- Limits the number of applicants
- No new ideas coming to the business
What is external recruitment?
This where candidates are recruited from outside the business.
What are some Advantages of External recruitment?
- Beings in new ideas
- Increases the number of applicants
- Wider range of talents
What are some Disadvantages of External recruitment?
- Longer and more expensive process
- Not an efficient way to identify best candidate
- Some candidates could play up for the interview
What is On the Job training?
This is training that takes place while being in the workforce by experienced workers.
Advantages of On the Job training?
- An output is still produced
- Easy to organise
- Cheaper
- It is relevant as they learn while performing the Job
Disadvantages of On the Job Training
- The worker may be a danger to other without prior training
- If the trainee is unpaid they may become frustrated and not engage with the training
Advantages of Off the Job Training?
- Takes place outside of work hours
- Learning cannot be distracted
- Can learn from experts
- Make workers more confident
What is Off the Job Training?
This is training where it takes place outside the workforce, for example online.
Drawbacks of Off the Job Training?
- Expensive → Transport
- After training workers may leave for competitors
- Workers may lose more work due to Off the Job Training during work Hours
