What are the Key Events With Mary Queen Of Scots between 1568-69

  • Treaty of Edinburgh ends Protestant rebellion and Mary told to give up her claim to the English throne (Mary never approves this bit !)
  • After death of her husband (King Francis II of France),Mary returned to Scotland
  • Mary marries Henry Stuart (Lord Darnley) in 1565
  • Mary gives birth to her son James in 1566
  • Darnley murdered suspiciously in 1567 , Mary then marries the Earl of Bothwell
  • Scandal led to Scottish Protestant Lords rebelling again (1567)
  • Mary fled to England looking for Elizabeth’s help against the scottish rebels in 1568
