14 Solution of first order differential equations Flashcards
1
Q
-How do you go about solving a first order differential equation?
A
- separate the variables to get dx and x on one side and dy and y on the other.
- Then integrate both sides
- Put constant of integration on one side.
- If the rest are in log form then make the constant of integration a log
2
Q
What does it mean to sketch the family of curves?
A
-Take a few different values of curves and draw a dew different sketches based on what it could be.
3
Q
What is the difference between general solution and particular solution?
A
- General there is a constant of integration with no particular value
- Particular solution the constant of integration has a value.
4
Q
What is a limiting value?
A
-The highest value something can take.
5
Q
What does it mean if something is inversely proportional?
A
-Make it equal to K/X
6
Q
What is a limitation of using a differential equation model for a mint being sucked?
How can this be applied to other limitation?
A
- Does not take into account temperature of mouth nor mouth being bitten
- When another variable will not be constant.
