1.3 Study Guide Flashcards
What is the template for a good hypothesis
the phenomenon, due to/ caused, specific reason
What is the independent variable?
The variable that is purposely changed for different groups in an experiment.
What is the dependent variable?
The result of the independent variable trials.
If a group of scientists is trying to test if anti-fungal treatments affect the bee population what would be the independent variable?
The amount of anti-fungal treatment.
What is the control group?
The group that is tested without any of the independent variable.
What is the importance of a control group?
It helps to show how much the independent variable actually affects the expirement.
What would be the control group in the bee experiment?
It would be the group of bees that was tested with no anti-fungals.
What are overlap bars used to do?
This are used to show how significantly the results of an experiment vary.
If the overlap bars show no overlap what does this mean?
This means the trials are significantly different.
What is the template for a testable statement?
if the independent variable increases/decreases than the dependent variable with increase/decrease
