What do length, mass, and volume measure?
Distance between points, amount of matter, amount of space
Mean, median, mode, range defs
Mean/average: All numbers added and then divided by # of data points
Median: Middle of a set
Mode: Most common number
Range: Highest point minus lowest point
What are the metric prefixes and what do they mean?
Kilo - 1000
Base - 1
Centi - 1/100
Milli - 1/1000
Micro - 1/1,000,000
Nano - 1/1,000,000,000
Pico - 1/1,000,000,000,000
How to find variance
Find every piece of data’s difference from the mean, square them individually, then add and average the result.
Standard deviation
Measure of variation from the mean
What does a smaller deviation mean?
Values are closer to mean
What is it called when you infer things based on data in a graph?
Interpolation
What is it called when you infer things not using given information?
Extrapolation
X axis is used for…?
Independent/manipulated variable
Y axis is used for…?
Dependent variable/results
Difference between direct, indirect, constant, non-linear, and peak relationships
Direct: X axis is proportional to Y axis
Indirect: X axis is inverse to the Y axis
Constant: X axis is proportional and identical to Y axis
Non-linear: Graph points seemingly have no correlation
Peak: Line on a graph rises and then falls
