A person who agreed to for five to seven years without getting paid. In return they got free passage across the ocean to the New World, food, clothing, and shelter
Indentured servant
A system where people are owned as property and have to work with no pay and no rights.
Slavery
A product grown or made in one country and shipped outside that country for sale.
Export
A product grown to sell and make money, not for the farmer’s own use.
Cash crop
A person who disagrees with a government or religious authority.
Dissenter
A person whose business is buying and selling goods for profit.
Merchant
The lawmaking body of England. It is made up of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
