What is the importance of a control group.
A
It is that so you know what you changed in an experiment and have a different outcome. It is also so you know what you changed. Only 1 control at a time.

It has a big enough effect to be sent but not to mess up the experiment.

If two error bars do overlap, and the sample sizes are equal or nearly equal.
