1.2 - Using A Scientific Approach Flashcards
Information that you obtain through your senses.
Observation
An organized plan for gathering, organizing, and communicating information.
Scientific Method
A proposed explanation for a question question or observation. Must be testable
Hypothesis
A representation of an object or model.
Model
Explaining what the data says and stating if it supports or refutes the hypothesis.
Conclusion
Explains what scientists know will happen every time but does not explain why.
Scientific Law
A well tested explanation that address a wide range of observations.
Scientific theory
Those variables we set to be the same in the control group and the experimental group
Controlled variables
The variable that we are observing and measure or count
Responding variable
A test in which all of the variables are the same except one
Controlled experiment
The one variable that we differently in the control group and the experimental group
Manipulated variable
Reviewing the data to see if it supports the hypothesis or not
Analyzing data
