Q

why do computers have primary storage

A

Primary storage is low-capacity internal storage that can be directly accessed by the CPU. Program instructions and data copied from the hard drive into RAM processed by the CPU primary storage access speeds much faster than secondary storage devices.

Q

whats the difference between RAM and ROM

A

RAM is volatile storage that stores all programs that are currently running. RAM also stores parts of the operating system about to be processed by the CPU.
ROM is non-volatile storage that can’t be changed. OM stores the BIOS then loads up the operating system to take over managing the computer

Q

what is the purpose of ROM in a computer system.

A

ROM (read-only memory) is a non-volatile memory type. This means it receives data and permanently writes it on a chip, and it lasts even after you turn off your computer. The data is coded to not be overwritten, so it’s used for things like your printer software or your startup programs.

Q

what is the purpose of RAM in a computer system

A

RAM is a temporary memory bank where your computer stores data it needs to retrieve quickly. RAM keeps data easily accessible so your processor can quickly find it without having to go into long-term storage to complete immediate processing tasks
