What is the burden of disease?
A measure of the impact of diseases and injuries, reflecting the gap between current health status and an ideal scenario where everyone lives to an old age free of disease and disability.
What does DALY stand for?
Disability Adjusted Life Years. One DALY equals one year of healthy life lost due to premature death and time lived with illness, disease, or injury.
What does YLD measure?
Years Lost Due to Disability. It measures healthy years of life lost due to illness, injury, or disability.
What does YLL measure?
Years of Life Lost. It measures years of expected life lost due to premature death.
What is life expectancy?
An indication of how long a person can expect to live, based on current death rates.
What is HALE?
Health Adjusted Life Expectancy. A measure of life expectancy at birth, adjusted for time spent in poor health, indicating years lived in full health.
What does morbidity refer to?
Ill health in individuals and the levels of ill health in populations.
What is mortality rate?
The number of deaths over a specific period.
What is prevalence?
The number or proportion of cases of a particular disease or condition present in the population at a given time.
What is incidence?
The number or rate of new cases of a disease during a specified time period.
