How do dehums work?
Reduce RH by extracting moisture from the air
Is drying equipment safe to be near water?
- All is.
- Esp low water voltage (110) & ones fitted with RSD
Refrigerant Dehums?
- Preferred temp between 15 degrees and 30 degrees
- Machines designed as Low Grain Refrigerant (LGR) offer a significant improvement to earlier models
Desiccant Dehums?
- Works by adsorption of moisture from the air into a desiccant material
- Material capable of absorbing moisture when heated and releasing it again
- Often venting to outside of property
Why do desiccant dehums sometimes cause issue?
- Often requires venting to outside of property so difficulty deploying them, security measures etc.
- Some can avoid this by having an attached condensing unit
What is injection drying?
Small holes into building voids to release trapped moisture
What material is injection drying useful for?
Drying behind PB or panelling
Heaters of various types may be deployed to raise ambient temps with significant improvement for drying within a built environment, these include:
- Infrared heaters
- Indirect heaters
- Heat mats
- Microwave heaters
High pressure suction compressors are useful for what?
Extracting moisture from beneath flooring and within walls
Air scrubbers which contain HEPA filters will keep air free from what?
Small particles such as mould spores, dust or soot particles
