a person’s individual speech pattern e.g poems vary in idiolect
masticate
i. to chew
ii. to reduce to a pulp by crushing or kneading, as rubber
e.g. some poems need to be read, and re-read, and masticated, in order to reach their core, to take them in as fully as possible. others are less layered, and accessible with much less time and effort.
loge
a private box or enclosure in a theatre
espoused
adopt or support (a cause, belief, or way of life) e.g. not only do the values espoused by literature counter the semi-official creed for material success, these values also serve to curb the resultant effects of the Singapore government’s incessant emphasis on pragmatism
proscenium
arch that separates a stage from its audience
