Localhost
The IP address 127.0.0.1 (also known as the loopback address) is used to verify that the local TCP-IP protocol is installed and working properly.
Jitter
Jitter The variation in the latency of VoIP packets.
Latency
Latency The amount of time it takes to send a network request and receive a response back.
Quality of Service
Quality of Service (QoS) A feature in some routers and switches that assigns priority to different types of network traffic.
Port flapping
A problem in which a port on the network switch continuously turns off and on three or more times per second for at least 10 seconds.
What should you do first when troubleshooting any network issue?
Check the cable:
Test the cable: Use a cable tester.
Look for lights: Check for blinking lights networks communicating?
Power check: Make sure all network devices, are turned on?
What is the localhost IP address?
The local host IP address is typically 127.0.0.1. It’s a standard way for a computer to refer to itself.
What are common causes of jitter?
Network congestion.
Using a wireless network for VoIP communication.
Bad hardware.
What is the difference between full-duplex and half-duplex?
Full-Duplex Mode: The network adapter can send and receive data at the same time, like having a conversation where both people talk and listen simultaneously.
Half-Duplex Mode: The network adapter can either send or receive data, but not both at once, like taking turns in a conversation.
